Liza “With a Z”

Liza Giangrande is an award winning New York actor with strong ties to her New England roots. Born and raised just outside of Boston, she began her career in television as a season 4 cast member on Fetch with Ruffman for PBS Kids. She went on to graduate from Fairfield University with a Bachelors of the Arts in Music. Following college, she completed the two year advanced training in Meisner at the Michael Chekhov Actors Studio under Scott Fielding.

She has gone on to work in numerous productions, both on stage and screen. Notable stage credits include originating the role of Joan of Arc in Born to Do This, Jo March in Little Women, Laura Wingfield in The Glass Menagerie, Harriet Smith in Kate Hamill’s Emma, and Gordon Farrell’s Off Broadway production of Girls Who Walked on Glass. Notable on camera credits include Wish I Was There (NYIFA Best Actress recipient), Beer League: Last Licks and Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman.

Most recently she starred in Betrayal by Harold Pinter at Gloucester Stage Company as well as several indie short films: Down The Church Hall by Aleeza DeAlto, Actualization by Jaina Cipriano, and Workers by Ted O (all currently in post-production). A recent favorite was working on the live reading of Woodshedding, a film by Viktor Herrmann, at Brooklyn Horror. In June of this year, the Boston Theatre Critics awarded Gloucester Stage’s 2025 production of the Glass Menagerie with several Elliot Norton Awards including Outstanding Featured Performance in a Play (Midsize) to Liza for her critically acclaimed turn as Laura Wingfield. 

Her strength as an artist is bringing a truthful, grounded approach to the characters she gets to portray while maintaining an unbridled sense of joy and play for the work.  With a love for working both on camera and stage, she has found that collaboration and teamwork are the keys to effective storytelling.

Her Letterboxd top 4 would be: The Love Witch, The Wizard of Oz, Blue Valentine, and Evil Dead 2 (or Pride and Prejudice 2005!!) If you mispronounce her name, she holds it within her legal right to sing Liza With a Z at you.
